		A GRANXA INDUSTRIAL PARK

The municipality of O Porriño, distributed in eight parishes, (Atios, Budiño, Cans, Chenlo, Mosende, Porriño,
Pontellas and Torneiros)
is located on the southeast of Pontevedra’s province, in the valley crossed by the Louro river. Its proximity to the city of Vigo and the communications network turn it into an urban and industrial expansion area. This area has become, right after Vigo, (city it depends on to a great extent) the main metropolitan economic area.

Its character is basically industrial due to its two industrial parks and its granite quarries, the world biggest quarries of this mineral. We must mention the characteristic and unique ‘Porriño pink granite’, which is even used for buildings in the United States. Furthermore, it is an important road communications junction.

These two big business parks, As Gándaras and A Granxa, with companies belonging to the automotive industry, construction, granite treatment, manufacturers of industrial brands, machinery and diverse services sectors are separated by the main communication road between O Porriño and Tuy, the O Porriño-Vigo freeway, which is a vital connection with the south of Pontevedra and the port of Vigo.

 

A Granxa industrial park is located in O Porriño (Pontevedra). It has been in use since 1996 and it belongs to the industrial land created by the Consorcio Zona Franca de Vigo. It displays a total surface of 933,149 m2, where we can find parcels for companies, public thoroughfare system, green areas, sport and social facilities. It is located in a strategic place, just a few kilometres away from Portugal (to the south) and from the city of Vigo (to the north). It is a place full with industrial parks. Take As Gandaras industrial park, for instance, which is just in front of it. Communications are exceptional, as the industrial park is surrounded by the Atlantic Highway (AP9, Autopista del Atlántico) which shapes coastal Galicia from North to South passing through the most important cities of the community in terms of economy. Moreover, it is surrounded by the Autovía de las Rías Baixas (A52, Rias Baixas freeway), which links the south of Galicia with the plateau. The main activity sectors of the industrial fabric are the automotive industry, the ornamental stone sector, and transport and logistics sectors.

Area: 200,000 square meters where 131,563 square meters of industrial-commercial parcels are materialized.

DIP owns 78,948 square meters of different sized parcels. Specifically, the parcels are those in green colour in the plan.

Regulations have been versatile and generous from the industrial-commercial point of view, so that the companies could make the most of their land, allowing even the aggrupation of parcels to get larger ones.

The current urban situation is completely finished. The corresponding Partial Plan and the Land Readjustment Project have been approved. The urban development permit has also been granted.
We are currently undertaking the preliminary work of urban development.

We foresee that the total finalization will take place in the summer of 2012.

DIP is currently undertaking the expansion of the abovementioned A Granxa industrial park, developing the PPI 6 SECTOR 2 of O Porriño.
That is to say, we are born as a literal expansion of the most important and consolidated Industrial Park of the province.
